Report on Whistler, BC
Whistler in British Columbia has a
stellar reputation as a top-flight ski resort. We examine in this
report whether this reputation is deserved and who the top operators are
to Whistler. Our report has 5 categories: ski terrain, service,
restaurants, accommodation and snow conditions
Terrain
No question, Whistler has some of
the world’s best ski terrain. There is enough of it, and enough
variety, to satisfy the tastes of raw beginners and the appetites of
experts. Whistler’s double- and triple-black diamond runs are
legendary, but not for the faint of heart or those without supreme
confidence in their abilities.
Service
Whistler has good to great
service. A little inconsistent perhaps, but this is not surprising
given the turnover of staff, but generally you will get service with a
smile all over the resort
Restaurants
Whistler has a great selection of
outstanding restaurants. The Bear Foot Bistro, the Rim Rock Café, Araxi,
the Trattoria di Umberto, Quattro, Hy’s Steakhouse, Apres, Sushi
Village; these are names to conjure with. You can easily have 14 great
meals in different places during a fortnight’s stay
Accommodation
This is where Whistler ranks
supreme. The accommodation in Whistler is superlative. We chose from
Holiday Whistler’s range of Whistler accommodation
and although we are extremely picky, we were not disappointed.
Snow
This is where Whistler has some
vulnerabilities. There is a lot of snow in Whistler, but also a lot of
rain. You can have stupendous conditions, but it can also be very
wet. Snow is Whistler’s only drawback.
